Our senior people have extensive knowledge
of all aspects of corporate trading
Adam Yates, CEO
Adam began his career in the media department of Leo Burnett, a full service advertising agency, where he was a successful television airtime buyer for many blue-chip clients. From there he became Media Director and Deputy MD of All Media Services (AMS), one of the first specialist media agencies in the UK. In the late 80's Adam established a sister company, All Media Marketing, to meet a wider range of client communication requirements.
In 1993 Adam was then recruited by Active International, the world's largest corporate trading company, to be MD of their UK business. He subsequently founded his own corporate trading company and became Newgate Trading's CEO in 2011. Adam has more experience in this business sector than anyone else practising corporate trading in the UK today.

In her childhood Gail moved with her family from Essex to America, and graduated from Mount Vernon College, Georgetown University, Washington DC with a BA (Hons) in Business and Finance. After completing her formal education Gail returned to the UK to join the Wallis Fashion Group as Financial Accountant. She progressed to Hays Allen Chartered Accountants as part of an audit team, and two years later joined MBS, the first independent UK media agency, as Financial Controller.
Gail first teamed up with Adam Yates, our CEO, as Financial Controller of Active International UK, and was a partner in the corporate trading company they subsequently launched. Their working partnership has now extended to Newgate Trading.
Gail's main recreational hobby is scuba diving, which she has pursued in many locations around the world.
Clive Reffell, director of trading
Clive's career in the media advertising industry began with 15 years of planning and buying campaigns for major clients in the media departments of full-service advertising agencies, including O&M, Leo Burnett and the Saatchi & Saatchi Group.
He was then a founding member of the acclaimed Radio Advertising Bureau's senior management team, and promoted the generic benefits of radio advertising to advertisers and their media agencies. Combining the RAB and time spent running his own consultancy business, Clive spent nine years advising clients and their media agencies how to maximise the return from their advertising investment, and media owners how to market themselves effectively to advertisers.
In 2001 he joined the corporate trading company owned and operated by Adam Yates and Gail Landing. Working alongside the clients' media agencies Clive trebled the company's trading base across numerous media owners in all the above-the-line media sectors. The techniques applicable to corporate trading for media advertising are transferable to many other business sectors, and Clive oversees trading in all areas.
Clive is a member of the Marketing Society. He holds a CAM Diploma in Advertising, a Professional Diploma in Management from the Open University Business School and an IDM Diploma in Direct and Digital Marketing.
Clive Crouch, non-executive director
Clive has enjoyed a particularly successful 35 year career in the UK television industry. After several years in sales representing ITV's Central Scotland, Ulster and London Weekend franchises he joined GMTV a year before it launched as Sales and Marketing Director to set up the business.
From then until 2007 he was responsible for the commercial success of the business on behalf of five shareholder companies. During this time he managed more than £1.5 billion of commercial revenues.
In 2007 Clive was appointed Chief Operating Officer, running the broadcast side of the business and its 300 employees. In November 2009, ITV achieved 100% ownership of GMTV and ended its stand-alone status. Clive remains at the forefront of the children’s advertising sector through his Clive Crouch Media Insight agency, and a voluntary role with the Advertising Association to preserve the freedom to advertise responsibly to children.
Clive brings to Newgate Trading his top level business acumen, a second-to-none insider's view of the television marketplace , and his professional reputation among many heads of marketing at national and international brand owners.
